Field Max is supported by their cross platform applications for sales & distribution and the one that concerned them was their Windows tablet application. The client interaction highlighted the following concerns : the visual balance, screen utilization and windows 8 design language.
The interface re-design was aimed to improve the interactions the user had with the application and in turn help them tackle their every day challenges of sales force automation and distribution operations in a better way.
It started with discussions and analysis of the present interface, then wireframes and finally the high fidelity interfaces. Below are some screenshots of the old design.
Old user interface.
The dashboard contains all the essential functions that are frequently used by the salesman. A quick connect to the field max server, messages, notifications, add customer & light/dark contrast for reading are some new features that have been added to the interface.
A long list of stores that the salesman has to plan and cover in his day. Semantic Zoom and search were incorporated to help in toggling through the large list of shops.
The routes screen which has the list of all the routes the salesman has to cover. Semantic zoom is used here as well to ease toggling between routes.
A simple interface for selecting & placing orders along with keeping track of the order summary and inventory.
This screen followed the same design language as rest of the screens in combination with a windows 8 style pop up.
